About 2 months ago, I stumbled upon this Perfect Image 30% Glycolic Acid Peel on Amazon & after reading through loads of reviews, I decided I really wanted to give it a shot and after using it several times now, I am completely obsessed!

After my first use with these peel, I immediately called up my mom (who is a bit of a skincare junkie) and convinced her that she absolutely needs to try this!

Now, this really is an amazing product but I’ve got to start off with a little warning. Please for the love of all that is holy, use caution with this product! As far as chemical peels go, this one is quite mild but it is still a chemical peel and needs to treated as such or you could end up damaging your skin. Follow the instructions carefully, do a patch test, wash it off completely and avoid sun exposure for the following day. Also some medications, especially those meant to try skin conditions, can cause nasty side effects when paired with chemical peels so please keep that in mind. Consult with your doctor if you are unsure about any of these things.

Perfect Image lists the following  as things that can be treated or improved by using this peel: Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Acne, Oily Skin, Uneven Skin Tone, Scars, Dry Skin, Blackheads, Enlarged Pores, Whiteheads, Hyperpigmentation, Rosacea, Melasma, Warts, Enlarged Pores, Age Spots, Sun Spots, Eczema, Seborrheic Keratosis, Hyperkeratosis, Actinic Keratosis, Keratosis Pilaris.

I practically never do patch tests because I like to think I have pretty resilient skin and literally never have a reaction to anything. Despite that, I still did a patch test with this product and you should too! I applied the product to a small section of my face, left it on for one minute, removed it completely and waited 24 hours to do the rest of my face to make sure I wasn’t going to have a nasty reaction.

As soon as I washed off the peel on the small little area that I had patch tested, I knew this was going to be great! I could already feel a noticeable difference in that spot versus the rest of my skin! It was just so, so smooth while the rest of my face still felt quite textured.

To apply this peel, I start by using my favorite toner, Dr. Thayer’s Alcohol Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel toner. I put some on a cotton ball and gently go over my whole face to remove dirt and oils and prep my skin for the peel.

Next, I use the inclosed dropper to place the peel on some sort of flat surface, such as a plate, & then I use a small fan brush to apply it evenly to my face, being careful not to get too close to my eyes or lips.

I set the timer on my phone and when the time is up, I rinse very, very thoroughly with cool water and then use this neutralizer to neutralize my skin and make sure that no trace of the peel is still lingering on my face.

Afterwards my skin feels a little sensitive but not at all painful. Any sensitivity is usually gone by the next day for me.

This is not exactly a comfortable procedure. It burns but not in a stop, drop and roll sort of way. Much of the discomfort can be fixed by just waving air at your face or sitting near a fan. For me, the discomfort goes away immediately after washing it off. Since it does burn & I didn’t want to screw up my face, I washed it off after only 45 seconds on the first use to make sure I didn’t over do it. I slowly started increasing my time with each new peel (I do them weekly) and now I usually keep it on for about 3 minutes, although I’m still planning on slowly working my way up to 5 minutes. The level of discomfort seems to be greatly decreasing for me as I continue to use the peel.

Now about these results! I absolutely love what the Perfect Image 30% Glycolic Acid Peel is doing to my skin! So much texture is removed and I’m left with glowing skin that feels absolutely baby soft and smooth! I had quite a bit of scaring and discoloration on my chin due to years of popping and picking at little blackheads in that area. After several uses with this peel, my marks are dramatically improved and it’s almost as if they were never there to begin with! I am throughly pleased with the results I’ve gotten from this product & peels are now going to be a permanent staple in my routine!

Have any of you tried an at home chemical peel before? I’d love to hear about your experience and results!
